Easy Outdoor Activities!

Now that the weather is getting nicer, it’s time to get those kiddos back outdoors! We’ve put together a list of easy, inexpensive ways to keep younger kids busy outside and
maybe even buy you enough time to start that
book you’ve had on your nightstand for months… ;)

“Painting the fence”- This is always a hit. Put plain water in a bucket, hand them a (clean) paintbrush and let them get to work “painting the fence!” Kids love this and it can keep them busy for quite awhile! Don’t have any paintbrushes hanging around? A brush from their art set will work, or even a spray bottle. Get creative with what you have!

Bubbles- This is a no brainer, but sometimes it’s good to be reminded of the simple things. Check out this DIY recipe for bubble solution from Artful Parent. Bonus, they ideas for DIY bubble wands too! If you want to make it easier on yourself, we like these bubbles that can arrive on your doorstep.

Sidewalk Chalk- Endless possibilities with sidewalk chalk. Draw a self portrait, tic tac toe, hop scotch, draw a path to walk or bike. If you haven’t watched this video of the now famous, “Man creates racetrack for kid…”, it’s a must watch for inspiration!

Picnic - You can keep this super simple by tossing some snacks in a bag, grabbing a blanket and laying it out in the backyard, or make it more of an adventure by grabbing your favorite takeout and going to your favorite park. We love this waterproof blanket from L.L. Bean for all outdoor adventures.

We hope this gives you a little jumpstart into getting back outdoors! Keep your eye out for ideas for older kiddos in an upcoming blog!
